At the December 3, 2006 Parish meeting, the following amendment to the bylaws was approved:

In the article on Ministry, the paragraph on Lay Ministry was amended by substitution with the following:

Lay Ministry. During any period of one year beginning July 1 and ending June 30 (a fiscal year), the society may be served by one or more lay ministers to lead services and undertake such other duties as may be prescribed. A lay minister shall be selected by the program committee, which shall decide the scope and length of her/his ministry. The membership, at the spring business meeting, shall determine whether to offer an honorarium to the lay minister or ministers to be selected for the following fiscal year.

This section had previously read:

Lay Ministry
1. When seeking one or more lay ministers for terms of not more than one year, the Committee on Committees shall solicit and interview candidates, and shall make recommendations to the Executive Board.
2. These recommendations, along with any additional recommendations from members, shall be considered and acted upon by the Executive Board at the first meeting following the Regular Fall Business Meeting.
3. A lay minister may be dismissed by a three-fifths vote at a business meeting. In the event of dismissal, the minister's salary and fringe benefits shall be continued until the end of the appointed term or three months, whichever is shorter.
