Sunday Services
Our Sunday morning services at 10:00 a.m. are usually led by "lay ministers" who plan a series of programs or, on one Sunday of each month, by our consulting minister, Rev. Ralph Tykzinski. (Guest speakers are noted as such.) You will find a wide variety of topics and perspectives presented, as shown in the listings of past programs.
A number of recent talks and sermons at Prairie are available online in written form.
Upcoming services are listed on our home page and in the Prairie Fire newsletter. A typical service is likely to include the following elements:
Prelude (music performed by a member or by our choir)
Welcome (members of the Board take turns in this role)
Chalice lighting and opening words
Minute of silent meditation
Children's story
Children's song (sung by the congregation as children go to their classes)
Joys and Concerns (members share recent significant events in their lives)
First song or hymn (from the UU hymnal or a songbook)

Speaker's presentation

Offering (collection baskets are passed)
Introduction of guests and visitors (those attending for the first time are
given the opportunity to introduce themselves)

Our intent is to explore fully the Unitarian Universalist principles in our services. We dress informally and our services last about an hour and 15 minutes.
