Through the Looking Glass: Affirming and Living Our Values in a Dominance-Obsessed World by Jennifer Parker

This talk highlights the beliefs and attitudes that enable all forms of violence in our culture in spite of religious and humanistic beliefs we say we hold. Jennifer adapted work she’s presented in workshops and in a book she’s writing that helps to understand the issues behind #MeToo and Black Lives Matter, as well as other social justice movements. She identifies that dominance socialization is infused throughout our social institutions irrespective of ideology. Her talk draws on the work of Riane Eisler, James Baldwin, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and spiritual traditions.
