ProtexAll

Union made for union workers and more. Uniform company from Galesburg IL has some really nice, unique stuff. I purchased two shirts from there that have faux mother-of-pearl snap closures. You can also get coveralls and plain, heavy gauge fabric jackets and shirts that are very attractive, simply styled and pragmatic to own:

Carhartt

This used to be one of my favorite companies, but like so many others they now produce much of their products in overseas sweatshops. They make rugged clothing for men and boys that is really excellent, so I recommend following either one of two procedures in order to ensure you are not purchasing exploited labor:

Shop from UNION HOUSE APPAREL (see above) because they only carry union-made Carhartt. Or, better still, call 1-800-833-3118 and ask the customer service rep if the product you are interested in was made in a union shop in the USA.

SHOES & BOOTS

New Balance

Athletic shoes and more—but be careful here—like many US companies, New Balance is enjoying the reputation of a privately-owned company with union made products while conducting a low-key transformation into an unscrupulous multi-national corporation. They make excellent products, so I recommend calling 1-800-253-7463 and asking the customer service rep to find out if the product you are interested in was made in a union shop in the USA.  Never trust them when they “assure” you that the overseas plants they use for manufacturing meet strict labor standards. That claim has been proven false by every private investigation made in any third world manufacturing plant. Such lies are protected by loopholes written into the free trade agreements originally crafted during the Clinton administration.
