Our Whole Lives

Prairie is proud to offer Our Whole Lives (OWL), a comprehensive, inclusive, accurate human sexuality education curriculum that presents age-appropriate information across the lifespan. Prairie has a team of trained OWL facilitators to work with children from kindergarten through high school.  Families from the wider community are welcome to participate. Fees are on a sliding scale.

OWL for 5 and 6 year olds will take place in the fall of 2024. The curriculum for this age group includes gender (including trans identity), conception (including artificial insemination and surrogacy), pregnancy, birth, and how bodies grow – all in a setting that celebrates diversity and respectful loving relationships among families and friends.

We plan to offer OWL for 10 and 11 year olds early in 2025. The curriculum for this age group prepares students for the changes of puberty and encourages them to think critically about the way media portray bodies, genders, and relationships. Participants consider and discuss the importance of consent and the consequences of one’s actions. They practice respectful communication and self-advocacy.

If you are interested in enrolling a child in any of our OWL programs, please email DRE[at]uuprairie.org and include the birth year of your child so we can keep you informed of opportunities for them to participate.
