“Healing Communities through Kinship” by Mary Sue Reutebuch
Mary Sue Reutebuch will share the inspiring work of Greg Boyle. In 1992, as a response to the civil unrest in Los Angeles, Boyle launched Homeboy Industries to create an environment that provided training, work experience, and above all, the opportunity for rival gang members to work side by side. Today it is the largest gang re-entry program in the county, and has become a national model for community building. Boyle states, “You stand with the least likely to succeed until success is succeeded by something more valuable: kinship”.
